Who am I?

My name is Rosanna Crawford, I was born and raised in Canmore, AB and started cross country skiing by the time I could walk! At the age of 10 I started biathlon and fell in love! Something about the challenge of skiing and shooting really stuck with me and being able to hang out with your friends wasn't too bad either! At 14 I got to compete in my first National Champs and got a taste of what it was like to race on a bigger scale! By 16 I was on the National team and trying to make international teams. In 2008 I competed in my first World Youth and Junior Championships in Ruhpolding, Germany. That was when I got hooked!
I train full time out of Canmore and spend my winters racing all over Canada and Europe. Follow along as I compete and train all around the World!
It is here that I hope to keep you up to date on my training and racing. I would not be able to do what I love without the support of my family and sponsors, so a big shout out to you guys!
Now what is biathlon you might ask. Biathlon combines the physical exertion of cross country skiing and the challenge of rifle marksmanship. Skiing is always skate technique and shooting is either laying down on your stomach (prone) or standing up (standing).

Biking

Every year we go on a bike camp to get in some volume and roller ski/bike up some epic passes in BC. This year we made our way to Nelson. The day before we left we went out to High wood pass and roller skied. Day one the boys (Brendan, Scott, Nathan, Tyson and Pat) biked from Canmore to Radium and we (Megan I, Zina and Melanie Shultz) biked from the 1A to Radium. After 4 and half hours and 2 bears we arrived, took a nap and did some fun agility and run stuff with Matthias. Day two we drove for a couple hours to Creston and then skied up the Salmo/Creston pass, switching to our bikes once we got to Salmo and biking from there to Nelson. Day three we drove to Castlegar and roller skied up the gradual hill that would take you to New Denver, once we got to the top jumped on our bikes again and rode back to Nelson. Day four after taking the ferry from Nelson we biked for 120km to just before Yahk and then drove the rest of the way home. It was a great couple days filled with hard workouts and good company, and on the plus side we didn't get rained on while biking!

On the ferry from Nelson

B and I on the ferry

After 400km on a bike, 40km skiing up hill and 20hrs of training we arrived back in Canmore, Saturday was a tough strength work out and Sunday was a much needed day of rest before our next big week of volume training. I am happy the sun has decided to come out again and now that my mountain bike is all fixed up I am looking forward to hitting the trails!

See you out there,
cheers
Rosanna
