Who am I?

My name is Rosanna Crawford, I was born and raised in Canmore, AB and started cross country skiing by the time I could walk! At the age of 10 I started biathlon and fell in love! Something about the challenge of skiing and shooting really stuck with me and being able to hang out with your friends wasn't too bad either! At 14 I got to compete in my first National Champs and got a taste of what it was like to race on a bigger scale! By 16 I was on the National team and trying to make international teams. In 2008 I competed in my first World Youth and Junior Championships in Ruhpolding, Germany. That was when I got hooked!
I train full time out of Canmore and spend my winters racing all over Canada and Europe. Follow along as I compete and train all around the World!
It is here that I hope to keep you up to date on my training and racing. I would not be able to do what I love without the support of my family and sponsors, so a big shout out to you guys!
Now what is biathlon you might ask. Biathlon combines the physical exertion of cross country skiing and the challenge of rifle marksmanship. Skiing is always skate technique and shooting is either laying down on your stomach (prone) or standing up (standing).

Music

I thought I would stray from the usual of writing about training and racing and write about something different, music. I feel a song can pump you up, keep you calm, bring a smile to your face or let you cry if you need it. This past month I have gone to a couple shows and I forgot how much I love live music.
At the beginning on the month I went and saw Hannah Georgas play at Communitea. "Her voice, bittersweet yet as spunky as an indie film heroine, will make you swoon as she sings about love, language and awkward situations." My favourite song by her is "The Deep End".

One of the opening acts was Colleen Brown, an Edmonton born signer song writer, who's music I fell in love with right away. She has a very unique voice, with lyrics you can't help but sing along with and beats that keep your toe tapping. My fav song by her is "Love You Baby".
Last night I went and saw Xavier Rudd & Izintaba at the Banff Centre. What a show, he is such an amazing artist, playing didgeridoo, drums and guitar all at once! The atmosphere in the Eric Harvie was pretty great, everyone was on their feet as soon as he started playing and most people didn't sit for the two hours he played! His opening act was Justin Nozuka, 3 guys on guitar and one on percussion.

Be sure to get out there and enjoy some live music this summer and remember to dance like no one is watching!

cheers
Rosanna
