Who am I?

My name is Rosanna Crawford, I was born and raised in Canmore, AB and started cross country skiing by the time I could walk! At the age of 10 I started biathlon and fell in love! Something about the challenge of skiing and shooting really stuck with me and being able to hang out with your friends wasn't too bad either! At 14 I got to compete in my first National Champs and got a taste of what it was like to race on a bigger scale! By 16 I was on the National team and trying to make international teams. In 2008 I competed in my first World Youth and Junior Championships in Ruhpolding, Germany. That was when I got hooked!
I train full time out of Canmore and spend my winters racing all over Canada and Europe. Follow along as I compete and train all around the World!
It is here that I hope to keep you up to date on my training and racing. I would not be able to do what I love without the support of my family and sponsors, so a big shout out to you guys!
Now what is biathlon you might ask. Biathlon combines the physical exertion of cross country skiing and the challenge of rifle marksmanship. Skiing is always skate technique and shooting is either laying down on your stomach (prone) or standing up (standing).

In hot pursuit!

Today was the 7.5km pursuit in Kontiolahti. It was a chilly morning but the sun came out and the course was hard and fast. The course here is super tough, it could give Canmore world cup course a run for it’s money. On the 2.5km course you have a flat and a nice down hill then its long hard climbs back to the range. The wind had been tricky all week but had settled down this morning. I came into my prone shooting and missed my last shot. Thats ok, one quick penalty loop and back around the course and up the behemoth hills. As I came into my standing shooting I was told that I was in 51st, telling my self not to think about it I did my range procedure and hit 5/5, excellent 9/10, good shooting for a sprint race. I was the bib 87 out of 88 and finished in 57th, that means that I get to race the 10km pursuit tomorrow!
Pursuits are one of my favorite races and I haven’t done a real pursuit yet this year! One where there is 60 starters and people are every where, there is always someone to chase and someone chasing you! This will also be my first World Cup pursuit! All four Canadian women qualified for the pursuit, so it should be an exciting day. I hear it is supposed to get pretty cold and be -18 or so for the race tomorrow, brrr!

Wish me luck,

hugs

Rosanna
