Who am I?

My name is Rosanna Crawford, I was born and raised in Canmore, AB and started cross country skiing by the time I could walk! At the age of 10 I started biathlon and fell in love! Something about the challenge of skiing and shooting really stuck with me and being able to hang out with your friends wasn't too bad either! At 14 I got to compete in my first National Champs and got a taste of what it was like to race on a bigger scale! By 16 I was on the National team and trying to make international teams. In 2008 I competed in my first World Youth and Junior Championships in Ruhpolding, Germany. That was when I got hooked!
I train full time out of Canmore and spend my winters racing all over Canada and Europe. Follow along as I compete and train all around the World!
It is here that I hope to keep you up to date on my training and racing. I would not be able to do what I love without the support of my family and sponsors, so a big shout out to you guys!
Now what is biathlon you might ask. Biathlon combines the physical exertion of cross country skiing and the challenge of rifle marksmanship. Skiing is always skate technique and shooting is either laying down on your stomach (prone) or standing up (standing).

Back to winter!

My week at home flew by, with me trying to get healthy, watching Nationals and packing again. This was the first time I haven’t raced Nationals since I first competed in them at 12. It was pretty sad. I always loved Nationals, because even if my start of season didn’t go so well, I would always show up a Nationals and rock it by getting on the podium a couple times.
Nationals was the selection races for the men to pick the last 3 guys who get to go on the World Cup. As some of you may have heard I am dating my team mate Brendan Green, so being up there cheering for him I have a new sympathy for family and friends when they are watching. I was as nervous as if I had been racing my self, maybe even more. Watching him shoot and just willing the targets to go down, cheering as he skis past wondering why he is not moving faster (even though he was moving pretty quick)!
Brendan was 3rd in the sprint and 2nd in the pursuit and qualified for the team! The other guys that made the team were JP (pre qualified), Scott Perras and Nathan Smith. The lovely ladies of the team are Zina, Megan Tandy, Megan Imrie and my self.
After a long day of travel we are in Kontiolahit, Finland. There is a ton of snow and I feel like I am back in winter. But not nice spring winter, we have been told that it is -20 most morning! Friday is the mixed relay, which will be JP, Brendan (I think), Zina and Tandy. Then sprint, pursuit on Saturday and Sunday. Monday we make our way to Oslo, Norway for a week then the last World Cup is in Russia. This tour I get to go to all new places, very exciting.

Enjoy that Canmore sunshine!

Rosanna
